Health Screening

Early Detection and Screening Physicals.

The physicians at Webster City Medical Clinic strongly believe in early detection of disease processes such as diabetes, heart and cancers, such as colon, breast, prostate and lung. With this in mind, we periodically review recognized and renowned authorities such as Mayo Clinic, to help formulate our Annual Physical and Wellness Exam. We strongly recommend the following tests. Most of these are performed onsite in the clinic with the convenience of remaining in your local community.

• Chest X-ray
• Colorectal cancer screening
• Flexible Sigmoidoscopy
• Colonoscopy (age 50 and older or earlier with risk factors)
• Complete Blood Chemistries
• Cholesterol (high and low density)
• Triglycerides
• Homocysteine level
• Creatinine (kidney function)
• Lipoprotein A
• Liver Function tests
• Minerals and protein
• Uric Acid (gout)
• Glucose
• T4 & TSH (thyroid studies)
• Complete blood counts
• Complete urinalysis
• ECG (electrocardiogram)
• Mammography for women beginning at age 40
• Pap smear (cervical cancer test) for women
• PSA (prostate cancer test) for men age 50 and older
• Treadmill exercise testing and fitness assessment

The following additional studies may be considered for individuals with certain medical symptoms or risk factors.
Abdominal or pelvic ultrasound (screening for aortic aneurysm, cancers of liver, pancreas, ovaries)
Bone Density Studies (osteoporosis test)

*PLEASE NOTE: Most of these tests would not be covered under insurance unless significant medical complaints or risk factors were present OR your insurance covers an annual or biannual wellness exam.
